POD — print on demand — means nothing exists until someone orders it. You create the design; Audlis and its audited print partners produce each piece to order. This tutorial takes you from an empty prompt to a finished product, and then to publishing your design in the marketplace where other buyers can license it.
Step 1 — Open the Studio
Sign up for a free account and open /studio. New accounts receive starter credits, so your first experiments cost nothing.
Step 2 — Generate and refine
Describe the subject, the style and the palette in one prompt. Specific beats poetic: "minimalist line-art heron, two-color, sage #A8B79A and charcoal" will outperform "a nice bird drawing". Generate a few candidates, keep the strongest, and use the refine pass to adjust composition or palette rather than re-rolling from zero.
Step 3 — Choose a product and placement
Pick the base product — tee, tote, poster, hoodie. The canvas editor shows the exact print area: drag your design into place, and respect the safe zone around seams and collars. Front-center at 25–30cm wide is the safest first placement for apparel.
Step 4 — Preview the mockup
Generate the photorealistic mockup and check three things at 100% zoom: edges (no unintended clipping), contrast (fine lines still read at print size), and background (transparent where the fabric should show through). If anything fails, fix the design — not the mockup.
Step 5 — Order, or publish and earn
You can order the piece for yourself immediately. Or flip the design to public or commercial in the marketplace: public designs can be remixed for free and build your audience; commercial designs pay you a royalty (default 70%) every time another buyer licenses one onto their product. Enable your federated handle on your profile, and every published design is also broadcast to your Mastodon followers automatically.
